Diesel Diagnostic Technician

Advanced Diesel Diagnostic “A” Technician

Job Duties:

  • Diagnose and or troubleshoot engines, transmissions, emissions systems, steering systems, suspension systems, coupling systems, Bendix, ABS, air brake systems, and HVAC systems etc. using strategic diagnostic strategies.
  • Using diagnostic programs and strategies to complete advance equipment diagnostics.
  • Perform repairs on all aspects of equipment including, mechanical, engine, transmission, emissions systems, steering systems, suspension systems, Bendix, ABS, Air brake, and HVAC systems etc.
  • Perform and understand detailed inspections and preventive maintenance schedules of equipment. Making sure equipment is safe and maintained to DOT and Cowan Standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services on equipment in a timely manner with little or no supervision.
  • Oversees Diesel Service “B” Technician and Lube “C” Technicians, shop equipment, tools, and safety protocols.
  • Keeping work areas clean and safe for you and others.
  • Working on projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of Diagnostic programs such as Davie 4, Diamond logic builder, Navistar Engine Diagnostics, Service Diagnostic Solutions, Eaton Service Ranger and DDEC. Be able to read and trouble shoot diagnostic trouble codes etc.
  • Has completed manufacturer specific training, and or Vocational School, and or College Level Diesel Program.
  • 4 years or more of practical experience with all aspects of tractor repairs and maintenance.
  • Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, as well as hand and power tools).
  • A/C section 609 Certification – Preferred but not required.
  • ASE Master Certified – Preferred but not required.
  • Valid class A or B CDL driver’s license – preferred but not required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to solve problems.
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces. Standing or reaching in awkward and sometimes uncomfortable positions to work on equipment.
  • Must provide own tools required for regular maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs.
  • Must be a driven individual, outgoing, and display “role model” leadership qualities.
